Car No Go
This morning, I went to my car and it wouldn't start. Crap sammich. Wasn't sure what the problem was - it would rev, but ultimately wouldn't turn over. And I know jack about cars. I talked to my old coworker Dave, and he posited that it might be the battery. He suggested that I get a jump - if the car started, then I needed a new battery; if not, well... something bigger was the problem.
I got a hold of Dave, who was nice enough to drive by and give me a hand. Neither one of us knows a thing about cars. I knew enough to jump the thing, but no luck - it got close a few times, a bit of rumbling that got me excited... but no engine start.
This took a surprising amount of time out of my day today. I'm bummed not because I use my care all that often, but because I'm supposed to see Dave tomorrow in the burbs. I'm helping him with a Flash site he's working on, and it looks like I'll be taking the good old Metra once again. After almost two months - back on the train. The crap ass thing is that the earliest train out there doesn't leave until 10:30 AM. I had planned on showing up at Dave's around 8 AM (it takes about an hour to drive out there, longer by train). To top things off, the trains back into the city on Sundays happen around once every three hours.
!!!
Oh well, at least I'll have two relaxing rides on the train - chance to do some writing, or some reading, or maybe a nap.
I'll probably wait until next week to have the car towed and worked on. Going to ask a few folks for advice on where to take it.
