And So, We Enter December
Matthew: I'm terrified of doing it.
Portnoy: :D
Portnoy: Alright.
Portnoy: Here's what it is then.
Matthew: lol
Matthew: I'm ready to smell...
Portnoy: One Nonfiction draft, due before the turn of the new year.
Matthew: k
Portnoy: More than one draft is cool, but at least one by Dec 31.
Matthew: sounds appropriate.
Portnoy: Poem form will be six lines.
Matthew: ok.
Portnoy: I don't want to put syllabic constraints, and I also don't want to throw in rhyme constraints.
Matthew: ok
Portnoy: But I feel like six lines isn't strict enough - feels a bit loosy goosy.
Portnoy: ?
Portnoy: thoughts?
Matthew: uh...
Portnoy: I'm cool with just leaving it as six lines. I can put in my own restrictions per poem.
Matthew: there could be a "word" (as in some particular word or kind of word must appear) requirement. or a topic. or one line could have to be iambic. or, or, or??
Matthew: or each week could have a slight tweak of requirement?
Matthew: each poem could have to be able Ringo Star's balls?
Portnoy: bingo
Matthew: I thought that last one sounded interesting.
Matthew: I mean, serious, how many Ringo ball poems could there be?
Matthew: It's new and exotic territory!
Portnoy: I'm tempted to leave it open. The more I think about it (ahahahaha), the more this will make us both "put in" our own rules.
Portnoy: Gets us closer to writing away from the constraints of the exercise.
Matthew: that's a good call.
