Man, the navigation code for this site is messy. I really need to redo the whole blessed thing, but I've got other things vying for my attention. What started off as workarounds ended up requiring additional workarounds of their own. A bad start just leads to more fixes for prior problems. For some reason, this is the analogy I thought of, when working on the nav code:

There is a gorilla who's trying to use two parachutes to jump out of the plane.
I need to convince him he only needs one parachute.

Yeah yeah. I know. Why is there even a gorilla on the plane in the first place?
