Summer Jam

So it’s come up at work that we’ve got a ton of "brochureware" sites to do. Most likely, it’ll be me and Ben, making some fancy schmancy, snazzy looking Flash sites for a variety of concerts for all of our radio stations. One of the main ones that’s coming up would be Summer Jam, sponsored by Hot 97. There was talk about all of us getting flown out there to attend the concert, and today it became official.

For a while, I debated whether I wanted to go. I’m not all that comfortable at concerts, and hip-hop/R&B just isn’t my thing. But hell – this is a free trip to New York, and I’d probably get a few days of hotel stay out of it, and I think I’d be able to meet other twelvestone folks in the area.

A voice inside my head says that I probably wouldn’t have all that much fun at the concert itself. I have no real desire or interest in attending, or even being backstage with the artists (not even sure if that’s a possibility). What I do want to do is see the city, hang out with Justin and Ben and Matt, and take advantage of a really generous offer my company is extending me.

I’m pretty sure I’ll go. I’m trying hard not to ignore that voice, the one that keeps telling me it’s easier to do what I’m used to, and that I shouldn’t try new things. It’s easy to get lulled in by that comfortable, predictable voice… I’m trying to fight against it.
