Justin And A Brief Q101 Interlude

Justin called me up Saturday, and discussed playing Trivial Pursuit over at Kent's. I wasn't feeling particularly social, but in the back of my head I knew this would be fun. So - he swung by around 5 or so, and headed over to Justin's. Prior to hanging out with Kent, we stopped by the Wicker Park Street Fair, which was hosted by Q101. It was on Division, and it was completely blocked off from about Wood to Ashland.

When we showed up, there didn't seem to be that many people around (although the actual size of the area was pretty big. The crowd at the stage was rather small, and I didn't really know the band playing. There were a lot of folks lounging around on the sidewalk, as that seemed to be the preferred method of hanging out.

We were able to get into the VIP area for a bit, and I snagged a free beer. Justin, for reasons that eluded me, got some kind of new hard lemonade thing.

We strolled around a bit, and I must say - there were quite a few vendors there. Lots of folks lined up, selling things from t-shirts to sunglasses to the Marines trying to recruit.

I thought about taking pictures... but there wasn't all that much to shoot. Wait - that's a terrible statement. There's ALWAYS something to shoot. To me, it seemed like a lull when we arrived. Either the fair was just getting underway, or had already been going most of the day.

The headlining band (and this is something I still don't understand) was Spin Doctors. Seriously - makes no sense to me. Not part of our station's demographic, and I have a hard time seeing that band selection fit in with the neighborhood. But hey, I'm not a programming/executive type that uses words like demographic for a living, so what do I know?

Well, I guess I just know that Spin Doctors strike me as about ten years past their prime.
