Good Day
Justin and I had a nice breakfast at DeMar’s and spent the rest of the day… well, at work. But we were working on a personal project that we both discussed a few weeks back, while we were out at the Artful Dodger. Today, I got to walk through making a database from scratch, and setting up several tables. Justin also helped me make a few basic SQL statements, and we got a lot of the foundational work set. This project was meant to be something that we both could do, drawing on our strengths, and just a good collaborative effort. And in the process, we’re both hoping to learn what the other knows.
Ever since I’ve moved to Chicago, Justin and I have talked about teaming up and just making some really cool, fun stuff for ourselves. We do a lot of things for work, for freelance… and we wanted something just for ourselves, and our friends. There’s nothing to show yet, but once we get something up I’ll post it here.
I think today, I got the better end of the deal. I’ve helped Justin a bit with Flash before, so today was a bit of that "helping" coming back to me. I feel really excited by what I’ve learned today, and can’t wait until I fully grok this shit.
Yeah, I said grok. Shaddup. ![]()
Not only am I excited by the project Justin and I have undertaken, but I’m starting to get this vague sense of what I"ll be able to do, once I become more adept at creating/populating/querying databases. I can taste it, a little bit.
