Neo’s

I had a great time at Matt’s birthday party. Met some good folks, and got into some great (albeit geeky) conversations. I didn’t end up taking a turn at Dance Dance Revolution, but expect an entry in the near future where I’ll be doing a little jig on that mat.

There was some talk about a big group outing to someplace like Dave and Buster’s. Combining booze and video games? What kind of heaven is that?

Justin and I took our leave, and were the last ones out the door. I didn’t realize it, but by the time we said our goodbyes, it was close to 3:00 AM.

Once we got into a cab, we discovered we were both still energized, and willing to keep going. Instead of heading home, we went over to Neo’s. I’ve heard Justin talk about this place at length, but since it was primarily a dance club, I never had much interest.

One hell of an entryway. There was some great designs all along the walls, leading up the door (which is down this alley-like corridor, far away from the street).

We got a few drinks, and settled down in the corner. I ended up watching all the folks on the dancefloor, and it was definitely an experience. The last song, there was all sorts of folks out – each one of them doing their own thing. There was a couple, slow-dancing in the corner. There was a guy, dressed in a full suit, swaying and into his own gliding, sliding, smooth world. And there was a punk rock girl with a mohawk, lit cigarette in her head, twirling around in circles and throwing her arms out into the air. Really quite a fantastic mix of people and styles, and literally everyone just doing their own thing.

This shot is after the song ended (and a lot of people clapped for the dancers), and they kicked everyone out.
