Mike


Walking to the train, I happened to glance over to see a small opening in the sidewalk. As I neared, I saw a guy pop up. I was fascinated, since the opening looked way too small for anyone to actually fit in there. I ended up walking by, introducing myself, and meeting Mike - who was checking up on the water metere here.

Mike was very friendly, and didn't mind me taking a picture for the blog (I ended up giving him the URL so he could check out the site).

On taking this picture, I'm reminded of Oil Can Harry and Timbuktu. There are an awful lot of people tending to the city, working above, below, within the roads and byways... everyone helping do their part to make sure the city of Chicago moves smoothly through the day.
