A warning

On the way back to work, I stopped to take a photo of some construction happening along the walkway at the Merchandise Mart stop. As I'm taking photos, this guy comes up and asks if I'm a student. When I say no, he then tells me that taking photos on CTA property is forbidden, and that I'm likely to get my camera confiscated.
When I ask to take a few more (I took his statement as a warning, and not as "you can't do this")... he basically tells me that I can't.
A few folks in the office tell me this has long been CTA policy in Chicago: no photos on the trains. But this just seems crazy to me. I realize it's likely for security reasons, but come on. Seriously?
I need to look into this more.
