Adrienne Shelley, RIP

Adrienne Shelley was the actress in one of my favorite films of all time: a movie called Trust by writer/director Hal Hartley. She was found dead at her office a few days ago.

Sad news. I lost track of her after Hartley's films, but it seemed like things were going well with her writing and directing.

For those of you who don't know Shelley, or haven't seen Hartley's work - definitely check out Trust. I can't recommend it enough. My college roommate and good friend Jim was the one who turned me on to Hal Hartley, and I'd like to pass that discovery on to you.

I feel very strongly about this movie. So much so that when I heard about Shelley's death, I made it a point to tell Justin right away.

We both got into Hartley's films when we were undergrads, and it's stayed with us ever since. I'd go so far as to say that Trust is my favorite of all of his films, due in no small part to Shelley's role in the film.

Sad news.
