I am the king of Social Graces

Yesterday, my neighbor Lee (who’s blind) was coming down the walkway. Our building has a front yard that’s lower than the public sidewalk, so there’s a set of stairs leading down. It had just started snowing earlier in the day, and an inch or two was already on the ground.

He was heading down (slowly), I was heading up. As I approached, I decided to cough loudly – to let him know I was nearby. Here’s our conversation.

Me: *cough*
Me: Hi, Lee.
Lee: Oh, hi Felix. How’re you?
Me: I’m good. How’re you?
Lee: I’m fine.

*pause*

Lee: Actually, I’d rather it was Spring time.
Me: Well, at least all this snow is something nice to look at!

I don’t know Lee terribly well, but well enough that I think he’d just shrug something like this off. In fact he laughed, when I said it. But jeeeeez.

As I turned to leave, I was literally cringing. Ugh.
