Storm and Blackout

Around 10PM, Liz and I were finishing up dinner and washing dishes in the kitchen. As we were talking, the lights flickered once, and the entire apartment went dark.

It's been ages since I've had to scramble for matches and candles, but it was kind of fun in a way. We were forced to slow down, to not be on the computer or watch TV, and just... be.

Liz and I plopped down on the sunroom chairs, and just listened to the storm outside, and talked.

As a brief note - we apparently have floodlights in the stairwell that kick in, even without there being power to the building. Who knew?

A photo of the living room, looking out to the sunroom. Looking out the window at the street and the neighboring (dark) houses, it was both eerie and pleasant.
