Tonight, there was a crazy storm that blew through Chicago. And on top of that, there were reports that an honest-to-god tornado was heading through Logan Square itself... which was a bit alarming.

Add to the fact that I was sitting on the pot, taking a crap when I found out this news about a tornado heading our way and well... excitement city. In a few short moments, Liz and I were scrambling out the back door making a beeline to the laundry room on the ground floor.

The tornado sirens were going off in the distance, there was a ton of lightning/thunder, and we were rushing down the back stairwell in the semi-dark trying to hurry our way down. To make matters worse, the entire back stairwell area is METAL. The whole way down, I kept expecting an arc of lightning to kick over and zap us (there was a ton of lightning/thunder at the time).

In the laundry room, a few of our other neighbors also had the same idea we did. We hung out with our Kristen, Liz, and our new across-the-hall neighbor Jason. In additition to there being 5 humans, Liz also had her two dogs and Jason had his three dogs. Needless to say, there was a lot of excitement all around.

We hung out for a while (Kristen had the foresight to bring her glass of wine down, and Liz had her smokes). After about 20 or 25 minutes, and me checking for updates on my Blackberry, we decided it was all safe and ventured back to our respective apartments.

Many hours later after the tornado alarm, a stronger wave of the storm swept through again. This was closer to 11:30PM and I got a little snippet of the thunder/lightning of video:
