Good Start Today

Walking to the Blue Line, I passed by what used to be the Daily Grind (at least, I think that was what it was called). Primer location, on the trisection of Milwaukee, North and Damen. And right across the street from an evil Starbucks. Well, there was a sign on the door saying that they would be open today, at 6 AM. So I go in and grab a cup of coffee.

Next thing I know, I see Jeff - the guy who runs Gallery Cafe, right by my house. Turns out, he and his business partner (another Jeff) opened up this new place, Filter. They were cool about letting me take pictures, and were in the process of hanging up their "Grand Opening" sign when I stopped by.

In case you're around Chicago, Filter's at 1585 North Milwaukee. Can't miss it, cause it's right there.

you are beautiful

Saw this, posted near the Merchandise Mart as I was about to walk in to work. Awesome. Made my day.

Singha

Jebus. It's like today is Felix's restaurant review day.

Went to the bank, and decided to take another way back to the Mart. Snapped a few photos, and stopped when I passed by two dragon statues at Singha.

There were two statues, guarding the door. Both had small plates of food, tucked beneath them. I went inside, curious to see what that was about and figured - hell, I'll just grab lunch here while I'm at it. As I ordered my Pad Thai with tofu, the guy taking my order told me he thought the food was "an offering to the land... spirits..." but wasn't really, absolutely sure. What he did know was that new food was placed there, every day.

Haircut

The funny thing is, my vision is so shitty... that when I get a haircut, I never have any real idea what's happening (or what I look like) until the very end. It's a bit unnerving, actually. I don't see a process or slow progression from one stage to another. It's glasses off, scissor sounds, completely different person in the mirror.

you are beautiful... again

I saw another one of those sticker things! Not sure what it's about, but this one I saw on the back of a bench, right across the street from the Damen Blue Line stop.

Weird.
