I
don't think either of us expected the night to go on a long as it did.
I had in mind that we'd be able to get our work cranked out fairly quickly.
I thought it was going to be a late night, but not dawn late, you know?
Ah
well, it all worked out. Besides, I get slower and slower with each hour
past 1:00 AM :)
I've
been hard at work getting
Ben's design for the P3 site wired up and functional. Even now, looking
over it... I know there are ways I can improve the code, optimize the
file sizes, etc. But I'm happy to let it stand for the time being. I'm
pretty proud of it, as it's one of the more involved projects I've done
(navigation-wise).
The
stuff we're making at work as a team is growing with each project. I look
back over the things we made a year ago, and today's work surpasses it
by leaps and bounds. Even with these long days and late nights, it still
doesn't feel exactly like work. There's still a bit of fun tied
in to everything, due in no small part to the place where I work and the
people I work with. The moment this stuff stops being fun, it's probably
time for me to look to another line of work.
So
here it is. The
Power 106 microsite for their P3 concert:

I
was listening to a few of the tracks from some of the artists on the P3
site. We ended up having to dig around/purchase the tracks ourselves,
and so many of the artist "pages" have full songs streaming.
The station folks and labels might complain, but I kinda like it.
In
particular, I found myself really liking both Dilated
Peoples and Styles
of Beyond. Which is a little fucked up, since I don't really like
hip-hop at all. And I mean, at all. Justin and Ben play a lot at work,
but it's never been for me.
I
think I may have to look into Dilated
Peoples and Styles
of Beyond a bit more.

Mmmmmmm
Breakfast
 |
Near
the Blue Line stop, there's this Chinese restaurant called "Silk
Road." I've eaten there maybe once for lunch, with Justin.
But it seems like they started serving breakfast stuff within the
past few years - mainly to folks on their way to work and nearby
construction workers.
I
had an egg and sausage and cheese sandwich, on a croissant. And
a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice. It's sort of weird to ordert
this inside a Chinese restaurant (the interior looks like a cafeteria
anyway), but one bit and the whole discrepancy thing ceases to matter.
I've had their sandwiches here before and, if I could, I'd eat there
every morning.
Mmmmmm
greeeeasy.

Ben,
contemplating the morning. I grabbed this shot because I noticed
the clock on the wall behind him.
Ben
was on his way home, but he was going to shower, change clothes,
and head back to work for the rest of today. Me, I was off
home to sleep and to take a rest after the past few days. Unfortunately,
Ben had more work to get done and was going to continue on without
sleep.
What
is it about us, that we do these things? Some days I don't know
if we secretly procrastinate, if it's the insensitive schedules,
or if it's just part and parcel of the industry. I'd like to think
of us as professional, in our own messy hair, blue jeans sort of
way. Somewhere in our pasts, someone instilled in us a serious respect
for the deadline. Maybe that's what it is.

Despite
some of its inhabitants, I really, really do love this country.
I don't think I say that often enough.

You
are Beautiful, Version 2.0
I happened
to see this on North Avenue on the walk back. Someone nearby is
doing this, since I've seen a ton of them in the area. Wish I knew
who it was. :)

Spotted
another one, a few feet away. I really like these things - they're
unexpected, and I walk away with a big smile on my face.
I
found one near my workplace almost a year ago, and another
one near my train stop shortly thereafter.

So
I crashed ou on my couch for a few hours. Literally, the next thing I
realized was "Wow, was I asleep?" Fast forward to about 1:30
PM. I went out, rented some movies, and proceeded to spend the rest of
my day sitting and zoning out. So far, I've gotten about three hours of
sleep since yesterday. Not sure why I'm still awake... I think a lot of
it has to do with not wanting to "waste" my day off by simply
resting.
Alright.
Sleep time. |
