Midpoint

Right now, I'm not sure if it's in my best interst to just go to sleep or try to stay up and work. Before you immediately suggest sleep, there are pros and cons. And don't get the wrong idea here - I love sleep as much as anybody.

I got back home tonight at a decent hour, and promptly turned on the television, threw a pillow down on the couch and woke up around 9:00 PM. So far tonight, I've been putzing around, unable to really focus on anything. I took some time to update the blog, and even that felt indulgent.

I guess I'm resigned to the fact that this bracket deal is going to bleed into my weekend. That's been the impetus, to try to minimize the impact on my weekend... but unless I try to plow through more hours tonight, it ain't gonna happen. I dunno. I've been feeling super slow lately, that I'm not getting things done in a very timely manner.

While staying up late yesterday helped me gain some ground, I suffered the rest of the day. My brain felt like it was on a full second lag, and every part of me (skin, eyes, hands) felt about three feet farther inside myself, if that makes any sense.

*sigh* I think I'm going to sleep. This is gonna bleed into the weekend, regardless of what I do tonight. All I would end up accomplishing is saving a handful of hours maybe, at best. Blegh.

God DAMMIT

I lied. I started working again.

Gonna go crack a beer.

3:56 AM

Alright. So here we are again, second night in a row. :)

But I've gotten a lot done so far, and I'm pretty proud of my progress. Ah damn, the initial high I had on completion (some fifteen minutes and 5 testruns ago) has since faded.

I'd better try to sneak some rest before dawn kicks in. Goodnight!

Er... morning. :|

Whew!

Long day. Got a fair amount done, but there's a good bit of work yet to make this whole bracket thing pretty. I've got a problem posting my variables to an ASP page that Matt created, but I don't know if I even have the energy to ask for help on that just yet.

Matt and I were working late, and kept at things until about 7. Around 8:30 PM, I packed up shop and headed over to the studio to see Katie and her last day on Fook's show. I ended up hanging out in the studio (a cool place to be, since I'm rarely ever inside that room when people are on-air) for a good hour plus.

I tried taking some pictures (a few ok ones, a lot of blurry ones), but that's maybe for tomorrow. I'm off to bed.

Katie: Last Day at Q101

Today was Katie's last day, working with Fook. For about an hour and a half, I hung out with the two of them, just sitting in the studio and watching/listening. Watching Fook move was almost dizzying - he's someone who definitely has the multitasking bit down.

In addition to talking on the phone to callers, he was switching CD's, adjusting levels, switching from commercial spot to commercial spot, watching television... and talking to us. One of these days, I'll have to try to record just the soundboard part, so you can see how quickly his hands fly around this thing.

The man himself: Fook.

I'm not sure why this bottle is here. Ten to one odds this has touched more flesh than food.

Fook and Katie, doing the 9 at 9 countdown. I got a video of the two of them rocking out to a song, but unfortunately it's way too dark. I've spent a good while trying to get this thing lightened up, but no luck. I really wish you could see this - quite hysterical.

This thing has a name, but I've forgotten. I think it controls a lot of the commercials, or interstitials, or... something. I got a kick out of the big "Don't Touch" stickers all over the thing.

Katie, filling out some paperwork.

No idea what this is.

Some fancy machines, on the other side of the studio. Lots of blinking lights and I'll be damned if I can make heads or tails of what does what. The whole time, I didn't see Fook adjust anything on these racks, so presumably these things are all static, required bits of electronics.
