I felt pretty lucky!
Spotted this fantastic bike right outside the Division Blue Line stop. I got off here because I was
returning a video to the nearby Blockbuster. Yes, yes, it was a
DVD from the show Monk. But I'll likely not do this again, because as of yesterday...
I now have Netflix.

Here's the relocated bookshelf. This one holds all my poetry books, and anything writing-related (poetry
anthologies, writers on writing, etc).
Here's a slight aside. A few weeks back, Matt and I talked about starting up our poetry exercises again.
But this time... we weren't interested in the daily, short poems. We wanted something a bit lengthier, and
due maybe once a week at most. Well... the first deadline came and went, and we decided to extend it another
week. And when that one came about, I still hadn't written anything (although Matt wrote a poem which
I totally dug).
I'm usually good about the exercises, but lately my heart hasn't been into it. I just don't feel that
drive to write. Which is really troubling, when I stop myself long enough to worry about it.
Tonight, as I was organizing my poetry books... it felt pretty relaxing. I had Múm
playing in the background, and I was dusting off each book with some paper towels. Every once in a while, I'd
stop and flip through a book and read a poem or two.
I used to have this fire, this discipline when it came to writing. I don't know where that went. I'd like
to get back into it again. Perhaps the only way is to force myself to write every day, just wake my shit
up super early and have at it first thing.
Cleaning tonight, it was a nice reminder. I saw a glimpse of who I used to be, and I'd like to be that person again.

I haven't mentioned this, despite the fact that it's a pretty huge and tremendous thing that's going to
happen this week. A few months back, the company I work for (Emmis),
recently acquired a second radio station here in Chicago.
They own Q101, and the other station they got was
The Loop. After a lot of planning and discussion,
they're going to be combining both offices, and relocating everyone inside the Q101 office space.
Which means some serious space needs to be created.
Which means some heavy duty renovation is happening.
This week.
Thursday.
And they're starting with our department.
So come Wednesday, we're packing everything up into crates. As of this Thursday, I'll be working from
home. For two solid months!
Yeah, I know! It's crazy, and exciting and... pretty crazy. I'm looking forward to it a great deal, as
my commute will be all of about 15 steps. And I keep joking to everyone that I'm going to see if I can
set some sort of record for "days without wearing pants."
So far, my personal best has only been 24 hours.
Seriously though - this is going to be a lot of fun. A lot of us have been talking about using this
work-at-home thing to our advantage, and trying to lose some weight. I helped Justin
move a treadmill into his apartment yesterday, and I'm looking to put in a weight bench in the office (hence
all the moving and re-arranging).
I've gained a tremendous amount of weight in the past year. And given how many hours I spent sitting in
front of a computer screen... I could stand to shed some weight. So here's hoping that I can utilize
this extra time I'll gain by losing a few pounds.

I haven't been good about updating lately, and a lot of stuff has happened - particularly friends
who have either launched new sites or have new stuff for the world to see and enjoy. So here we go.

My friend Mitch is in a band called The
Shuteye Train, and they just released their CD. Check out the site,
listen to a few sample mp3 files, and get the album.

My friend Ben recentl re-launched his blog, taking
on a new look and format. Last year, he did an mp3 blog (which was available to a fairly closed community). But
this year, he's opening things up and switching from strictly mp3's to drawings and inspiration.
Swing on by, and reward your eyes and ears.

My friend Mike recently launched the website for his band, Cropchecker.
I went back to Columbus to see them last January, and had a blast
hanging out with old friends from school.
Lots of friends making stuff to share with the world recently. It's good to know so many talented, creative
people... as it makes me feel talented and creative by proximity.
