Well, I ran out of bandwidth again this morning. I had tried to upgrade
my account with my host yesterday afternoon (the cost of upgrading was comparable to buying yet another hunk of bandwidth, and made
more sense). But apparently... they dropped the ball. The guy I spoke with said he would up my bandwidth while my upgrade request
went through the queue, but he apparently didn't. My site was out of commission from yesterday evening until noon today, when I
got on the horn with them and made my upgrade request a second time.
Spent most of today working on Stu's new site, and puttering around the house some. Sort of a relaxing day, and most of it spent
sitting in front of the computer in my jammies, coding. I got dressed once to go out and get some coffee, and as soon as I got
back inside I switched back.
I was able to update yesterday's entry somewhat. But I didn't get to add all the pictures my get together with Matt
(Tha.Riddla) and Will (Rogue
Designer). Fun night last night, and lots of pics to post. Raincheck on this until tomorrow.
Heading out to a birthday party for Michael at Happy Village, where Justin's
doing his DJ thing. Lots of dancing, I suspect... so I'll likely be the guy sipping his drink in the far back, avoiding the dancefloor. :) Not
sure how many folks I'll know, so this is always a crapshoot as to whether or not I'll be taking a lot of pictures. Sometimes, it makes it
easier; sometimes, not.

En route to Ukranian village, I spotted this note on the bottom of a pizza box that had been shoved into
a trashcan. This set me smiling right away, and put me in a great mood.
Be happy.
Be kind.
Smile.

This was also fantastic to come across. Corner of Thomas and Damen.
Thinking about this made me a bit sad. It made me think that love was seemingly this transient thing,
doomed to fade over time despite our best intentions. I was reminded briefly of some
street art I happened across, one rainy morning.
Snow is such a fleeting thing. And for someone to use it as their medium, their method of declaration...
it was really cool to see this, once I stopped and thought about it.
Some part of me knows that, as soon as it warms up... this will be gone. Some other part of me didn't want to see it disappear, and decided to take this picture so that it wouldn't.

Happy happy, joy joy.

I showed up around 10PM, and there were a few folks milling around. Given the weather the past two days,
most of the city has remained holed up inside. But as the night wore on, more and more folks showed up
and things got a lot livelier.
This is Patrick and Howard (I had just met Patrick
for the first time a week back, at Innertown). Good talks with the both of them.

Mr. DJ Man.

A little bit later on in the evening, more folks hanging out.

Lesley, Chris and Justin
pose for a quick pic. I had a pretty interesting conversation about smoking with Lesley (and Patrick earlier),
and about the whole quitting process. It's a tough thing to go through, and we commiserated some on the
difficulties at the beginning of the process. I've found that, while I don't smoke anymore... I do like to
talk about smoking a great deal.

I ended up meeting Kari and Doug (also neighbors of Justin,
Michael and Howard), and chatted with them for a good part of the evening. Doug is one of the owners of
Rhythm, an interesting club where they provide
drums of all types to people, and you basically get into one humongo drum circle. There are lessons for
beginners, and people are walked through the basics... but it's just one big percussion session, and they
provide all the instruments.
Doug was really interesting to talk with. He is, in every definition of the word, an entrepreneur. He's going to
be selling Rhythm soon, and has been studying up
on franchises a lot. The two potential businesses he was interested in were things I would never even consider,
but he made some excellent arguments as to why they were strong business models. He's also incredibly environmentally
conscious, and has this fantastic balance of idealism and practicality. Really interesting conversations with
Doug.

As some of you may know, when she's had a few... Michael
likes to braid my hair. Seeing as this was her birthday, who was I to say no?
This is me, post-braiding. Kari and Howard tried tying some balloons to my braids, to see if they could
give me more of that Pippi Longstocking look.

Michael, receiving a birthday lapdance.

After Happy Village closed down, Kari, Doug, Howard, Justin and
I hauled some of Justin's equipment back to his place. This
is a quick shot of us, dropping off the turntables and records (that would be Nebula
in the corner over there).

The party moved on over to Inner Town. I had to lean back a bit to take this shot of Kari and Doug, and inadvertantly
pushed into the people sitting behind me.
When I turned to apologize, they were all really cool about it. I showed them my camera, explained a bit
about the blog, and demonstrated the rotating-view. I then encouraged them to go ahead and take a picture
of themselves.

This is Bryan and Sarah, with Kim in the background holding up her beer. They were quite nice about me
crashing into them, and gave me permission to post this pic up here.
I hung out at Inner Town for a brief while, and took off shortly after last call. Fun night of meeting a
few new folks, and joining in on the celebration for Michael's b-day.
