This? This just hurts.
Honestly, I have little qualms that this guy
made his own version. In fact, I think it's kind of cool that my idea excited other people to create
their own variations. And Jack did post links to both my blog entry
and the entry on Make's blog.
When it comes down to it, I'm bummed out that Boing Boing
decided to highlight his costume and not mine. This took a bit of the wind out of my sails, seeing this today.
I was pretty excited when the Make blog posting occurred, and I had
high hopes of my costume making it onto Boing Boing. True famewhore that I am, my inner geek is a little saddened that
Jack's getting all the Boing Boing love.
Jack's version is really
pretty darn impressive. While I wasn't after trying to replicate the game, I think his attention to detail
(particularly the pieces) is something else - it must have taken him ages to make his version. I still
argue though, that my candy version is more fun. :)
Hey - on the plus side, I'm getting a fair amount of traffic to my site. Hopefully, folks will browse around
some, and be entertained enough to come back regularly. If nothing else, it's always great to
get more readers.
I mentioned the famewhore thing, right?

When we were hanging out a few weeks back, Karen
mentioned that she had made a gift for me. Turns out a post that I made about me
missing my friend Ann made her sad. And so she decided to make me a gift, to help cheer me up.
The part that Karen remembered was the thing with the shamrocks. And so she ended up scrounging her entire
yard, looking for a four-leaf clover. And on finding one, she pressed it, put it into a frame with a great
background, and added a bit of grass (which I think is actually lavender or something).
How awesome is this? What a great thing to get! As bummed as I was about the costume thing, this helped
pick my spirits up. Getting a present from a pretty girl will do that to a guy.

A closer shot of the framed clover, which is now sitting proudly on my bookshelf.
Thanks, Karen! You rock!
