Venturing Outside

After a pretty severe hermetic stint, I ventured out today to Justin’s place and hung out a while in the backyard (despite it being a bit cold). Chatted a long while out here, in a lazy sort of way (hence this picture).

Howard joined us for a few drinks (we switched from beer to Johnny Walker), and talked some about Jeffrey Eugendies (he’s reading Middlesex right now) and Jeanette Winterson. After a bit, Justin and I got on this tangent about work, and spent a long while kicking around ideas.

Tomorrow, we have a big department meeting up in the suburbs. Should be interesting.

After it started to darken outside, we went in. Justin threw a few albums on, to let me listen to some of his newer finds.

Digging through a few older favorites.

Nebula, joining in on the fun.

Random shot.

Heading home, I walked over to the corner of Damen/Thomas. Justin was really taken with the clapsed hands (giving the finger), and wanted a shot of it. Most of this here looks like RUOK’s work.

What I love about this is – it looks like there was a piece here previously, on the right. But someone since tore it down. I love how this guy seems to be mourning what used to be here.
